The Northwest Minnesota Arts Council is very busy creating programs and services! We are excited that the 2009 Minnesota Legislature approved funding from the Legacy Amendment going directly into the Regional Arts Council system in Minnesota. The funding will be for FY 2010-2011 with the possibility of remaining in place for the next 25 years! Soon a new grant application will be available in our region. This will be a universal application so that a huge variety of arts projects will be funded. The grant levels and eligibility are still being determined. The first deadline will be February 1, 2010. We hope to see many creative project proposals. The Arts Council is also going to be offering our Public Art Project grants again. Applications will be accepted starting in February 2010. The Arts Council staff also hope to stimulate temporary public art projects in the region as well as permanent pieces. Workshops and trainings will be offered to artists who are interested in creating public art, cities want to learn more about public art, and other interested non-profit organizations. Our current programs will change slightly in calendar year 2010 to reflect this new funding source adding revenue to our grant pools. Watch for more information on these changes in next few months.
