This page is designed to give some quick
information on the Red River Basin and the web sites related to the
Basin. Our main purpose is to serve as a portal, to help our seven
northwest Minnesota counties easily connect with more detailed sites on
the basin. (If you are not sure where the Basin is located please
see the map page.)
The NWRDC's goal with this page is to help County Commissioners,
the Joint Powers Board, the Northern Counties Board , and the Rural
Counties Caucus find information quickly from a relatively neutral
source.

In response to a series of workshops held in the Red River region by the
IJC Red River Basin Task Force following the floods of Spring '97, stakeholders
expressed the need and desire to utilize Internet-based technologies to enhance
coordination of information sharing, before, during and after disaster. This
network is a beginning. It is offered as a means to facilitate exchange of vital
information, and to provide a venue for the coordination of regional efforts
This site contains a good directory and other interesting
information.
The Red River Watershed Management Board was created by legislative act in
the 1976 session for the purpose of instituting, coordinating and financing
projects to alleviate flooding and to assure beneficial use of water in the
watershed of the Red River of the North and its tributaries. The scope of
the RRWMB's jurisdiction and authority encompasses the area managed by the
individual Watershed Districts which have membership on the Board.
This site includes a brief history of several watersheds and their
current addresses and board of directors.
